LCD TV Repair Tip – Is YouTube an Effective Learning Aid?

A simple search online for LCD TV repair tips will bring you countless, (well, over half a million anyway) results. Most of these will be the form of online guides, tutorials, downloadable ebooks or face to face land based courses. However, hidden amongst them, you may notice the occasional link to YouTube. But are these any good?

Unfortunately, this is not an easy question to answer. Any experienced net surfer will be aware of the YouTube phenomenon, and the mixed bag of talented and talentless individuals it attracts. This cross spectrum appeal is what makes YouTube such the success, and entertainment it is.

Whilst this is good for entertainment, it is not necessarily a good thing for learning new skills.

However, there are many perfectly responsible, qualified and dedicated professionals that use YouTube to market their services. As popular realization increases regards carrying out your own repairs from home, many such individuals and companies are posting videos of the simpler problems to fix. It is a sound advertising policy. If they can instill some faith in potential clients, and share a portion of knowledge, people are more likely to remember them for some of the more complicated issues.

So, in essence, YouTube could be a good way to pick up some new skills in LCD TV repair. Personally however, I would use them very much as supplement to other areas of study.

I think they could be used very effectively alongside home study courses. Going back to those E books I mentioned earlier; having access to videos that may well show a novice doing the repair otherwise demonstrated by a professional, could help you learn more effectively. And having spent a little time looking at hundreds of YouTube videos, there are clearly a significant number of such novices!

If you prefer to study at a school or college, these videos may also provide a good supplement for your studies. Indeed, many tutors post lessons on YouTube, and give further guidance for those that wish to take their skills further.

In conclusion then, yes; YouTube can be effective in helping you garner LCD TV repair skills. But it would be unwise to rely on it solely. No matter how hard we all try to get something for free, the old adage that “you get what you pay for” is true. Be sure to explore all avenues open to you, and understand that you will most likely have to part with at least a little cash!
